Who we are?

Welcome to the world of  Digital Image Restoration, a blog which will help you to learn basics of image restoration problems and more through a series of simple but, we promise, amusing articles.

We started the blog with two main ideas, to share our experience as Marie Sklodowska-Curie action's ESRs (Early Stage Researchers) and to bring closer the topic of image restoration to a wide audience.

The Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) supports researchers at all stages of their careers, irrespective of nationality, so here we are: Lina Zhuang from China, Milad Niknejad from Iran, Joshin P. Krishnan from India and Marina Ljubenovic from Serbia.

We are part of two training networks: SpaRTaN (Lina and Milad) and MacSeNet (Marina and Joshin), both supported by MSCA. The SpaRTaN Initial Training Network train a new generation of interdisciplinary researchers in sparse representations and compressed sensing. The MacSeNet Innovative Training Network train a new generation of creative, entrepreneurial and innovative ESRs in the research area of measurement and estimation of signals using knowledge or data about the underlying structure.

All four of us are currently stationed at the Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT) in Lisbon, Portugal in the office on the 10th floor with the great view! When we are not looking through the window, we are active PhD students at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST)  also in Lisbon.

Let us go back to the core part of the blog. As mentioned above, the main idea is to introduce the field Image Restoration, through a series of subsections. Every sections will try to answer on, at least, one question starting from the very basics (What is the image in the mathematical sense? Importance and difficulties of image restoration? and so on). Later, we also will cover some hot topics and latest trends of the area.

If you stick with us, we promise you that, at the end, you will be richer with the new knowledge with which you can brag about to your friends.
